Structure HO-CH2CH2-SO3-Na Sodium Isethionate (SI) is primarily used in synthetic bar soaps and also as an intermediate in the production of SCI (Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate) for direct uses in personal care products which are regulated by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Other uses of SI include skin cleansing ingredients in shampoos, bubble baths, cosmetics, pharmaceutical intermediates, and additives in electroplating baths.
